Our Engagement (One Year Later)

February 17, 2018

Ahhhhh. THE. BEST. DAY.

We were in Nashville with several of our friends to celebrate Raymond’s birthday. Or so I thought that was the reason we were all there… It all began that Saturday morning, February 17. I’m so glad he chose to start off the weekend this way, so we could celebrate with our friends.

Now, onto the story. I was getting ready, slowly might I add, not realizing the somewhat urgency of the situation. Looking back, the entire morning Raymond did seem a little nervous. He also kept looking at his phone which seemed odd. Turns out he was checking the weather and communicating with the photographer. But of course I didn’t really notice these things until after the proposal.

After I finished getting ready, we were headed to brunch with everyone. Katie had picked out the spot and I really knew nothing beyond that. Between the fact that where we were staying was a little outside of downtown and my poor knowledge of routing Nashville, I had no idea where we were actually headed on that car ride. Definitely not brunch. He missed an exit on the interstate, I checked Find My Friends and Olivia was far, far away, but still I thought “oh she is staying in Franklin so that makes sense,” plus we were obviously lost.

But then, we pull up to a hilltop off a street and it starts to click in. I knew the trendy brunch and mimosa bar would not be sitting on the top of this hill. Something much, much better would be.

This wasn’t just some random spot. Turns out, it is called Love Circle, a hilltop that overlooks Nashville. I looked over at Raymond and the look on his face, cloudy eyes, said it all. A look I will never forget. He handed me a handwritten letter and the rest is pretty much a foggy, happy tear-filled story 🙂

After, we did actually go to brunch and all of our friends were there waiting with cupcakes and mimosas. Such a fun, perfect day. And of course all the FaceTimes with all my other friends who could not be there.

I am so thankful he took the time to arrange a photographer. When talking about getting engaged, that was my personal request. I will cherish these photos forever.

I thank God every day for the perfect best friend and life partner.
