a summer party to remember

So I turned 22. Like 10 months ago. But, I had almost forgotten about these little beauties seen above that captured the day so perfectly. My birthday is in July, so expect another round in a few weeks. I promise to post in a timely manner this time. But for now, here are my tips on keeping your summer gatherings chill and dreamy.

// L O C A T I O N //

There are so many things to take into account when planning not just a party, but an outdoor party. The weather is key. My day started out with some rain, then very overcast. The whole time everyone was freaking about it raining on my birthday (although my actual birthday was the day after but ya know). However, I love rain so I was like in the words of Hilary “let the rain fall down and wake my dreams.” But unlike Miss Duff this was not a music video shoot and my rain would be real- actual rain falling from the sky- not a rain machine. Is that what they are called? Rain machines? Seems logical enough to me. So before I get too far into more reasons to talk about Hilary and “rain machines,” let me address the point of all this. Rain happens. The weather happens. Overcast, sunny, raining- the show must go on, right?

I like to do things myself. It is really hard for me to hand over certain tasks. One of those tasks being party decor. When I plan things, I have a vision. I will literally not stop until I bring every aspect of that “vision” to life. I am a DIY lover. This rang loud and clear once I had the gold spray paint bottle in my hands. I chose a little animal for everyone, calling them their “spirit animals,” which I literally know nothing about, but hey as Hilary also once said why not? I spray painted those and the happy birthday sign you see hanging from tree to tree. I used stamps on the plain white candles. Grabbed the wood stumps, rocks, and flowers to put as the center piece and there it is. My vision. IRL. (in real life).

I just wanted to share a little summary of what went into this shindig. Hope you guys enjoy the photos! I will be posting every Monday and Thursday from now on- so see ya soon.

In the midst of all the school parties and programs and the Santa pictures, there were reindeer pancakes and hand painted ornaments and memories I will truly cherish forever. And a rebel playoff game will not surprisingly go down as one of my favorite experiences (I think ever?! Soooo special). 🤍
