2020 GOALS

HAPPY 2020 y’all! That doesn’t seem real. 2019 and every year before seemed acceptable, but 2020… This is like a Zenon year or something. I can’t believe we have hit it. WHY AM I NOT LIVING IN SPACE?! I know we are already three days into the new year, but I am just now getting around to really focusing on my new year goals. Go figure 🙂 I am blaming it on the fact that the weather here has been super gloomy and rainy, not making me feel great. So far 2020 is not quite living up to the hype that 2019 brought HA 🙂 But, I will give it more than just the weather to impress me.

I think 2020 has received more attention than previous years. With the new decade and “2020 vision”, social media has been booming lately. It’s been exhausting honestly. I have been so deep in reading everyone else’s goals that I ran out of time to focus on my own. Then, I got overwhelmed when thinking about all of the things I want to achieve this year. So I stepped back. Now, I am here to lay out my main goals in the broad spectrum. I am planning a follow up blog post on how to create healthy habits in order to stick with the goals you have set in front of yourself. Whether that be on January 1 or December 12, I do not care. I just want you to set yourself up for success.

I thought it would be fun and may inspirational to some for me to share my goals for this year on the blog! I’m trying to focus on one thing at a time, rather than everything at once, so that I do not get overwhelmed and lose sight of the big picture. As a graphic designer, illustrating something is very important to me. I decided to make a little gif that shows each of these goals!

I. RUNNING

I am trying my hardest to run 366 miles this year! I know a mile a day isn’t a lot, but I am not aiming for that. Most of my runs are usually longer than just a mile. Also, who knows what the weather might do! I am currently 8.5 miles in for the year and it is January 8. It rained until January 3rd, so I got a late start, but I am all caught up now. 🙂

II. TRAVEL

A big goal for Raymond and I this year is to go on a trip. I’d like to think of it as a trip for each year we are married. I know it will be hard to top the honeymoon (HA), but I am looking forward to wherever we end up! Thinking this will be more of a fall thing because I have not planned at all, but really excited to see what happens!

III. JESUS

Every year, I try to lean in to my relationship with Jesus more. This year already feels like a win, because the past few months have been extremely spiritual for me on a personal and relational level through our marriage. I am looking forward to being more intentional than ever with this and trying my hardest to focus on my relationship with God in new and refreshing ways.

IV. ART + HOBBIES

This is probably the most broad of my goals. Art for me is about a million different things. This blog, my personal edits and graphic design, my clients, my Etsy shop, my painting, etc. I really want to continually “fill my bucket” throughout the year. It can be overwhelming to think of doing all of these at once, so I am taking it one thing at a time. Art is tricky because inspiration comes when it comes (which is usually pretty constant for me), but I don’t want to become restless like I did last year. Etsy is a hobby for me for sure, and I enjoy it so much, but things can get crazy! Especially with a full-time job. In the end, it is such a rewarding feeling to have people invest in your work.

So yep, that’s it folks. I am excited to watch and see what the next year and DECADE hold. Looking forward to sharing more of it than ever on here. Here’s to new beginnings and exciting adventures!

In the midst of all the school parties and programs and the Santa pictures, there were reindeer pancakes and hand painted ornaments and memories I will truly cherish forever. And a rebel playoff game will not surprisingly go down as one of my favorite experiences (I think ever?! Soooo special). 🤍
