Perfecting Your Everyday Style

Dressing up for a night out and looking great is a given, but what if you want to look amazing every day? You don’t want to have to apply a full face of makeup, spend ages using a wand on your hair, and wear your sparkliest most attention grabbing outfits. You want to look great whether you’re going out out or heading to the shop, right? Well, these tips can help you to perfect your everyday style!

Find 3 or 4 Words To Define Your Style

The first thing you can do to help you get your style right, is find the right words to define it. When you can define your style clearly, you’ll be able to put better outfits together every day, buy better clothing, and just feel more like ‘you!’. Here are some tips to help you get started defining your very own style:

  • Take a look at your wardrobe and figure out what didn’t work for you and why. What didn’t you feel as great as you thought you’d feel in? What don’t you reach for as much as you thought you would?
  • Look at what you usually reach for and why. Is it the cut? The material? Use what you learn to buy clothes you’ll always wear, and avoid clothes you’ll hardly wear.
  • Look at pictures to get a good idea of when you felt your best and how you can feel that way again, if you take outfit pictures. If you don’t take outfit pictures, start taking them! You can then look back at them and emulate them when you have a collection of looks that made you feel great.
  • Pick a maximum of 4 words to describe your style. Then use these words when dressing, shopping, and so on!

You can’t be afraid to continue experimenting with your style, or to make mistakes. These are the things you learn from!

Have A Clear Out

If you’re going to perfect your everyday style, you need to stop letting the clothes you don’t wear mess you up. Have a clear out. Be vigilant. Go through your clothes and look at what you don’t wear and learn from your mistakes. You can then sell these clothes on, give them to charity, or do whatever you like with them as long as you’re not letting them clutter up your wardrobe any longer. If you’re a bit of a clothes hoarder, it can be a good idea to get a friend to help you out. They’ll help you even if you’re not sure what to get rid of – just pick somebody totally honest and upfront with you to help. Of course if you really love something and they tell you to get rid of it, you don’t have to listen. But if you’re unsure, and they tell you something needs to go, you should probably go with it!

Once you’ve cleared out your wardrobe, you can begin filling in the gaps and creating better looks for yourself.

Create A Capsule Wardrobe

When you’ve defined your style and cleared out your clothes, figure out what you need now to fill in any gaps, and create a capsule wardrobe. Capsule wardrobes are a great way to make sure you look great every day in the least amount of time. Everything works well together, so you can pretty much mix and match as much as you want to and you’ll still look great.

Creating a capsule wardrobe can take time, as you can’t be expected to go out and buy everything you need in one day. You need to stick to the principle that you only buy things you absolutely love, that make you feel great. They all need to go well with one another too, or at least the majority of your wardrobe. Creating a capsule wardrobe is a whole other subject in itself, so take a look at this in depth article to help you create the perfect capsule wardrobe for you.

You don’t even need to create a capsule wardrobe in the truest sense of the word, where you pretty much rotate the same pieces again and again. Just buy smart and high quality, and you can spend much less time and money shopping!

Go For Quality Items

Quality in your wardrobe is a must. When you buy quality items, they last for years, look better, and eliminate the need to keep indulging in throwaway fashion. It can be scary to start buying expensive items, but when you consider how much longer they’ll last and how much more you’ll probably wear them, you can justify the spending. Know what to look for in quality items; they don’t all cost the earth.

Make Sure You’re Comfortable In What You Wear

Whatever you choose to wear every day, you need to make absolutely sure that you’re comfortable. This means choosing a great fit, materials that don’t make you itch, and things you can wear all day long without having to constantly adjust. One of the most important things to look for is high quality, comfortable shoes. See shoes for women that will make your feet feel great all day long. Nothing looks worse than hobbling around just for the sake of wearing high heels. Trainers can look just as stylish if you pair them with the right items.

Tailor Clothes That No Longer Fit

If you have clothes you once loved but they no longer fit, don’t be afraid to get them tailored. Your body will inevitably change over time, and tailoring your clothes is a great move. Finding a great tailor is crucial, so make sure you hunt high and low, and take your time. Once you’ve found a good one, don’t let them go.

Hopefully, some of the pointers here help you to perfect your everyday style so you can feel good about what you wear day in, day out. Do you have tips of your own you’d like to share? Make sure you leave them below!
